First Circuits
From the introductory flight to Progress Check A. Eight flights spent working out which way is up.
The Traffic Pattern
Six weeks in which almost every track looks the same: a rectangle over Bad Vöslau, again and again. In between, clearance to taxi solo and Progress Check B.
First Solo
Two entries on a Wednesday evening. In the second one, the crew field holds a single name.
Out of the Pattern
Navigation. Unfamiliar airfields, controlled airspace, real routes — and in between, the first longer solo flights.
Alps, Danube and Progress Check C
The biggest day of the training: across the Limestone Alps into the Enns valley, on to Wels at 10,399 feet, and back down the Danube towards home. Three days later, the third check.
Solo Cross-Country
First solo flight beyond the pattern, first solo landing away from home, a triangle across half of Austria — and at the end Progress Check D.
The Skill Test
The practical test on 27 November. After it: the first flight nobody has to approve any more, and the first one abroad.
Night VFR
Six evenings between dusk and darkness, 23 landings in the black — and on 18 February the first solo flight at night.
Across the Borders
Zell am See, Bavaria, Czechia, the Adriatic. Four countries in four months, every one of them flown solo.
A Summer over Austria
Straight home from Lake Constance, a new type, a morning out to Zell am See and back, and a solar eclipse over Graz at the end of it.
