Disclosure under § 25 of the Austrian Media Act

Editorial policy: a private, non-commercial website. It reproduces the logbook and the GPS recordings of my own flight training and pursues no commercial purpose — there is no advertising, there are no paid links, and nothing is offered for sale.

What this site stores

No cookies. The maps are contained entirely within the page and fetch nothing while you read, and no fonts are loaded from third-party servers.

To see how often the site is read I use GoatCounter, an open-source service. It records the page visited, the referring page, the approximate country, browser, operating system, language and window width. It sets no cookies, stores nothing else in your browser, and keeps no IP addresses: to group the requests belonging to one visit, GoatCounter holds the IP address and browser identification in memory for at most eight hours and replaces them with a random string. What I see are totals, never individual people. Counting requires a small script loaded from gc.zgo.at; any ad or script blocker reliably prevents it. The offline edition of the logbook does not contain it.

A single setting is kept in the browser's localStorage: whether the page should be shown light or dark. It never leaves your device and can be deleted at any time through the browser settings.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When a page is requested, GitHub processes the access data technically required to deliver it, including the IP address. I have no influence over this and receive no statistics from it. Details are in GitHub's privacy statement.

Videos

Ten of the flights have footage on YouTube. The preview image is part of the page itself — as long as you do not click, no request goes to Google. Only the click loads the player from youtube-nocookie.com; from that moment Google's privacy policy applies, and data may be transferred to the USA.

Pictures and names

The photographs come from Wikimedia Commons and show the regions and airfields flown over; they are not pictures of the flights described. Author and licence are given with every image and collected in the footer of every chapter page.

Instructors, examiners and passengers appear with the initial of their surname only.
